Sally Townsend Retirement

Above is a photo of Sally Townsend with the Crystal vase that the Supporters' Club presented to her on the occasion of her 'retirement' from the Albion after 27 years loyal and sometimes difficult service.

Sally and her husband Brian were members of the Supporters' Club Committee for a number of years but in accordance with our rules once they became club employees they had to resign! Sally will be remembered for her courageous work in the club shop at the Goldstone with Angela Gill when they were subjected to untold abuse during the darkest days of the club, but through it all she persevered to become a very valued member of staff - not least being PA to Dick Knight during the big fight to maintain our League Status, the exile years in Gillingham, the return to Withdean and the ultimate glory of moving into the Amex in 2011. In recent times, Sally was appointed as Supporter Liaison Officer, a post required by the Football League, although clubs (our own included) seem reluctant to advertise, publicise and utilise!

We all wish Sally a very happy and healthy retirement and feel sure we will see her around the club, at least on the odd match day where we will be able to catch up with her.
