Nigel Summers
On 20 September 1969, Nigel was living in Hassocks when his father decided to take him to his first football
match – at the Goldstone Ground. Maybe it was the attraction of a visit by Barrow, but following a 2–0 home win
this glory hunter was well and truly on the bandwagon and Brighton & Hove Albion was his team.
Although he has no idea how many matches he’s been to in the past fifty-odd years, Nigel knows he has now seen Albion play at more
than a hundred grounds – and met some great people in some extraordinary times while watching the club in all four
divisions.
In order to celebrate fifty years of following the Albion, Nigel stood for election as chair of the Brighton & Hove Albion Supporters’ Club in 2019, and was proud to be chosen by the membership for the post. His main ambitions while leading the Supporters’ Club are:
- to increase the number of Albion fans joining the Supporter’s Club
- to enhance the benefits of membership
- to modernise the way it communicates with members and non members alike.
In 2022, Nigel was elected by the wider Albion fanbase as one of the first members of the club’s Fan Advisory Board, for a two-year period.
